TAC- Gerberadaisy & Blog Candy

I made another card that ended up using the colors from yesterday's color challenge on SCS. I have had this Gerbera daisy from TAC for a while. I used it several times when I first got it but it hasn't been out of the box since then. I really love this stamp so I pulled the box down last night. Thanks to my husband, Chris, I finally know how to watercolor better than I did. I'm nowhere as good as he is but I'm getting better. I used the striped paper in my retro paper pack I picked up the other day. I used my reinkers and blender pen to color the daisy. I scribbled off some color to do the light petals. Then, on the dark petals I went back and colored over it with my blue glitter pen. I did take another picture at another angle so you can see the sparkle. I can't wait to send some of these out! I made 6 of them.

I normally do that. When I sit down and make a card I try to make several of them so I have some ready to go when I need them. Do you do that? How do you make your cards? One at a time or do you make an assembly line? I'm curious. Do you make a little bit and then leave it to finish later? Or do you have to finish it before you get up from the table? I feel like this might be my blog candy question! I'll take a picture of the goodies I have to give away and post it soon. I'll pick a random number from the replies to this post! Good luck!

Hello! I love the glitter on the daisy! As an engineer, you would think that I would plan ahead and do an assembly line of cards. But nope. I usually wait until the last minute and quickly make a card up as we head out the door to a birthday party. Having a 2 year old daughter, I am used to starting a project and leaving it until later, so most of the time I have to do my cards in stages. Thanks!

well, I make them one at a time. I tried to do the OSW and it was fun, but I just don't think that far ahead. Unless they're invitations that I have to mass produce, I do them one at a time.

Very pretty card. My process is usually hap-hazard. I have just recently got myself organized to be able to start from a sketch. I often make a sample and then will make several so I have a few to trade with my stamping group that meets once a week. I also like to keep a stash to use for myself because whenever I need a card I never have time to make one, I need one right then.

I generally make one card at a time, and usually I make it with the intended recipient in mind, or within specific parameters, like a challenge or sketch. I tend to finish most cards in one sitting, unless major drying time is involved. The only time I really mass produce is with Christmas cards, when I generally stamp a bunch of images, cut a bunch of cardstock, then assemblyline complete them.

I like to do several cards at one time, too! You're the first person I've read that does that! I was beginning to think I'm wierd. Usually I do one card to get the whole plan, then go back to assembly line to "mass produce." Love the gerbera daisy stamp and the colors of your card! Your blog is lots of fun!

Your card is so pretty, I love that color combo. I prefer individual one of a kind cards, but if I'm doing a swap than it's assembly line, which I get bored doing.

I try so hard to do more than one, but it never works out that way. By the time I have the look I want, the kids are all into my stamp mess or I am just ready for bed. I wish I had more time to stamp.

I make one at a time. But I really should try to make at least few in advance as sometimes you just need something quick.

This was a really beautiful card! I loved it. You had done a great job at colouring and I liked the sparkly bits on it! I also use the reinkers when I color. Always. Love them. Right now I'm trying to make five Christmas cards every month to relieve me of some of the stress right before Christmas. They are made similar, but besides that, I always make just one card of each thing I'm doing. I don't know why. I always tell myself to make more, because the second one is always easier to make because then you've allready figured out the layout and the colors. But I think that when I'm first in my creative mind, I'm completely lost for this world and when I've finished one card I just jump right into the next new one full of new ideas. Thats probably why my desk always look like it does too... complete chaos!!
If I'm stuck on a card I try for severeal hours before I quit. I have a drawer I put my quitting-projects in. And from time to time I find my old half finished projets there and are suddenly able to finish them. Some cards I just have to sleep on. Next morning I have the solutions. And sometimes it's the colors that stops me. I now that I cant work with brown. That really stops me and my creativity. (Weird isn't it! Do you have colors you just cant work with?)
Ok.. this might be the longest comment you've ever had. I'm norwegian so its difficult to write down my thoughts in shorter terms than this.

I wish you a wonderful day!

It depends. If I have a pattern all worked out, I'll make 4 at a time, but if it's a totally new design, and I've labored over it for a while, I usually just do one. By the time I'm finished with it, I'm ready to move on to something else.

I do make my cards one at a time unless I have a design and then I make 4-6. Right now I am making 150 wedding invitations and it is about to kill me. LOL

I really have to start doing that...it seems I make a card and love it and then actually have to use it for someone! ACK! THen it's gone...I think from now on I will try to make 2 at a time...

Great blog! I like to make several cards at once, but they aren't all the same. I may use the same papers but do the card differently.

I usually make several cards at once - usually the same design and I try to finish them all before I get up from the table. Depends on what else I have going on. Beautiful card - I love that daisy!

I usually do more than one at a time (6 is usually a good number) and leave off the sentiment to add later. That way I can grab a card when needed and then personalize it with happy birthday, thanks, thinking of you, etc...

When I make a lot of cards I will do them in an assembly line. Especially if something has glitter on it. By the time I get to the last one I know the glitter on the first one is dry! It works best for me! I can't leave a project and come back, it's like coming back to someone elses work. I have to stick with it or start over. I realy like your daisy card, it's the color and the dimension that draws me to it.

this is a lovely card---i love the sparkly on the daisy and they are my favorite flower! i may just have to get this stamp!
i usually only make one at a time, but if i have lots of time, sometimes 2 of the same.

That flower is sooo pretty!!! I love how you colored it! I don't make more than one card, but wished that I did..it would make a lot more sense! I normally have to scramble at the last minute and thus, I don't always have a card to give when it comes right down to it :(

Usually, I make one card from start to finish. If I love it, then I make a bunch. This process is done in stages. I have the most fun when I am only making one.

Hi-
I usually make a few of each card, depending on the event. Since I sell some of my cards and give others as presents, I am always needing extras. Thanks for sharing the candy!

Usually I just make one at a time...mostly because that is all I have time for...I'm hoping that my calendar frees up soon so I can just sit and stamp and make all kinds of cards! :)

I enjoy your glittery blog. This card and your butterflies are so gorgeous. I make one at a time and am ready to move on to something else.

When I plan on making a bunch, I do my cards assembly line, so they're all at the same stage. That way, if I need to put stuff away and continue on another day, I can at least put away things I'm done with and not have to bring them back out. Thanks for the blog candy offer!

Lilian said...

i usually make my cards as i need them. but once i sit down to make one, i will try to make extra's for future use. i try to make bday cards by month. :)

Lauren Pittman said...

I do the assembly line! I actually just recently started since I would always forget some sort of occasion where I needed a card and had none! So now I try to make 5 at the same time, this way I could have some for next time!!
Thanks! =)

I totally just sit down and make oine card at a time, can't stand doing duplicates of a card. I really should try making at least pone extra of everything. your blog looks great!

Jennifer said...

I always think I am going to make a bunch but I always start with one and end with that. LOL!!! I wish I were better at making more at once. I would get more RAKS out that way!

Pattyjo said...

I like to make 2-4 at a time. The most time consuming part of card making is the design. I like to have an extra just to keep myself and I want some for give aways.

Since I teach card-making classes, I usually stamp the images I'm working with several times and play with different coloring techniques and color combos, so I do end up with several usable card tops or colored images I can use on a card. Then, when I find a certain one that I especially like or one that makes up quickly, I do several. Right now I have quite a few inkwashed Stampendous flowers and butterflies all colored and ready to mount on a card. I did them in several different colors so I can try to come close to a person's favorite color when I make a card for someone.

What a beautiful card, the glitter pen was the perfect touch. Usually I will start a card and then finish, but if I can't I don't mind leaving it to finish later. Sometime's I'll have to take a break if an idea is just not coming to me. Then I'll get back to the card later and beable to finish it right up.
