The Smithsonian

Here are some pictures I made while we went through the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History. We didn't have much time so we quickly went through a few areas!

More DC Pictures

This jewelry is in the Smithsonian. The pieces are just beautiful!!!!!

This is a picture of the Hope Diamond (from the Smithsonian). I decided to take a picture of this so I can put it on my wish list! lol

Mt. Vernon (Washington's House) - Here is a picture from the front and the view from the back! The next picture is Washington's tomb.

White House- Our group was able to tour the White House, however, we were not allowed to take pictures inside. It was great to be able to walk through and see inside!

Iwo Jima Memorial- I know the picture is blurry but I had a hard time getting one to take and not blur and still be light enough to see. I think this is the best one I have.

This is the Washington Monument. We went to the top and it was so neat to be able to see all the city from the top.

Here are some more photos from Arlington National Cemetery. The 2nd picture is the Kennedy Gravesites. A week before Kennedy was assasinated he was sitting on the porch of the house right behind the grave. He told someone he could stay there forever. When he was killed that person remembered that and that is why he was burried there.

World War II Memorial- 4,000 gold stars on the Freedom Wall commemorate the 400,000 + Americans who died.

I'm Back from DC!

I'm back from Washington D. C.- we took a group of 5th graders and their parents for a trip over spring break. We had a great time and saw a lot! All the walking made me so sore and I don't know that I'll be able to walk for the rest of the week! Here are a few pictures I took while I was there.
The first day we were there was just beautiful. It was cold and it was windy but the sun was out. The second day we went to Arlington to start and it was raining and dreary. We were able to see the changing of the guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

Vietnam Memorial

Lincoln Memorial

Korean Memorial- I think this was my favorite memorial.

Jefferson Memorial
